Research in National Archives is free and without charge for scientific, administrative or personal reasons.
On arrival, users are required to fill in a request of access form and submit it to the director or to the attendant. On the form, the user must register, besides his/her personal details, the research topic and its purposes (the personal details contained within the form are exclusively used for statistical purposes) and must declare to be aware of the rules of the “Code of conduct and good behaviour for the treatment of personal details for historical purposes”, and to respect such rules.
Consultation procedures are regulated by the “Rules for the use of the Reading room”.
Requests for documents are to be submitted Mondays to Thursdays, at 9.40am and 12.20am, and Fridays, at 9.40am, 11.30am, 1.30pm.
Requests handed in after the last distribution turn are dealt with the following morning, at 9.40am.
Scholars may request up to three pieces for each distribution turn.
